Things to Do in Hurricane Utah This Fall: Events and New Dining

October 8, 2026

Hurricane City Fall Fest is set for October 24 at the Hurricane City Community Center, 63 S. 100 W., a block off the center of the city grid. Look up the rest of this season's openings and events, though, and the addresses keep climbing on the west side: 1400 West, 3700 West, 5500 West, 5665 West, 6064 West. You can plan a Hurricane fall from October through mid-November by reading those numbers. Most of what is new, and most of the big dates, sits out toward Sand Hollow and Washington County Legacy Park. The hometown events and a couple of familiar stops still hold the middle of town.

Below, the openings and the calendar are sorted that way, with the status of each one stated as plainly as the sources allow.

The new places, sorted by address

This list comes from the monthly "What's coming to southern Utah" roundups in the Salt Lake Tribune's Southern Utah coverage. Macrae Heppler, who publishes the newsletter and video series "What's Happening in Southern Utah," puts them together. Each restaurant's own announcement adds detail.

Business Address Status as of latest report
Canyon Eatery 495 E. 800 N. Open; grand opening announced for July 18
Ernie's gas station 309 State St. Rebuilt and reopened
The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill 68 S. 1400 W., Suite 1 Reported open in June
Looped Bagels 1141 W. State St. Planned for "this fall"
Trailer Source 6064 W. State St. Expected late September or early October
Rush Funplex 6924 Coral Jct Road Listed as open in June

Only two lines on that table sit east of the grid's center or right on it. The rest run west along State Street and beyond.

Canyon Eatery: the newest sit-down dinner on the east side

Canyon Eatery breaks the pattern. The July 5 roundup announced its grand opening at 495 E. 800 North for July 18. By the August 10 edition it was listed as a new Italian steakhouse that was "now open."

The restaurant's own site takes table bookings. Menu items it names include spicy vodka rigatoni, spaghetti and meatballs, and a wild mushroom and truffle pizza. Its online ordering page lists hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. New restaurants often change their hours in the first few months, so check the current schedule before you plan a late dinner around it.

For anyone on Hurricane's east side, this is the one new full-service dinner option on the list that doesn't take a drive west.

West State Street: lunch now, bagels later

Out on the west side of town, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill announced in early June that its Hurricane location at 68 South 1400 West, Suite 1, had opened, and the June roundup listed it as open. It is the most established of the west-side food openings this year.

Farther along, Looped Bagels at 1141 W. State St. is the one to watch. The August roundup described it as "officially in the works" with plans to open this fall. A local business directory listing, published September 1, describes bagels, breakfast and coffee at that address. As of the end of September, no source has confirmed an opening day. Treat it as coming soon until the doors open.

Trailer Source, at 6064 W. State St., is less a weekend outing and more a sign of how far west the State Street corridor now stretches. The roundup put its expected completion in late September or early October.

The fall calendar, in date order

The pattern holds for events too. The city's own Fall Fest is downtown. The concert, the car show, the trail festival and the home show are all out at Sand Hollow or Legacy Park.

  1. October 1 to 3: Monster Energy Trail Hero & Music Festival at Washington County Legacy Park, 5500 W. 700 S. It starts tomorrow.
  2. October 8: Emily Ann Roberts, Live in Concert at the Rock Bowl at the Sand Hollow Rock Bowl, 5665 W. Clubhouse Drive.
  3. October 23: Neon Night Run at Grandpa's Pond, 350 N. 3700 W., from 8 to 10 p.m., according to the city calendar.
  4. October 24: Hurricane City Fall Fest at the Hurricane City Community Center, 63 S. 100 W.
  5. October 30 to November 1: Southern Utah Home Show at Washington County Legacy Park.
  6. November 7: Sand Hollow Resort Charity Car Show at Sand Hollow Resort.
  7. November 10: Veterans Recognition Luncheon at Washington County Legacy Park, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Two dates to double-check

Fall Fest's hours differ by source. The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce lists 4 to 9 p.m., and Visit Salt Lake lists 3 to 8 p.m. Both give the same day and the same Community Center address. The organizer is the Hurricane City Recreation Department, so the city's recreation site or the department's phone line, (435) 635-2609, is the place to confirm the start time.

The Southern Utah Home Show page shows the October 30 to November 1, 2026 dates. The page itself is older and has been updated since it was first posted, so a quick look closer to the weekend is a good idea.

A week-by-week way to use it

Taken together, the openings and the calendar make for an easy October plan:

  • This weekend: Trail Hero at Legacy Park, October 1 to 3.
  • Thursday, October 8: The Rock Bowl concert at Sand Hollow, with The Great Greek on 1400 West along the way for an early dinner.
  • Friday, October 23: Neon Night Run at Grandpa's Pond after dark.
  • Saturday, October 24: Fall Fest downtown, then dinner at Canyon Eatery on 800 North if you'd rather stay on the east side of town.
  • Early November: The car show at Sand Hollow Resort on the 7th and the Veterans Recognition Luncheon at Legacy Park on the 10th.

Restaurant hours and event times can change, so check each venue's current listing before you go.

What's still dirt, and where it points

The projects that won't open this fall follow the same direction. The August roundup reported that Exceptional Healthcare is moving dirt for a hospital that will include a life flight heliport and a new urgent care clinic. Phase 1 of Silverwood Industrial Park is under construction at Old 91 Highway and 730 North, with 20 industrial lots. Desert Forge Industrial has signs up at 670 Old 91 Highway. The same report notes plans for a Fairfield Inn, an RV park, a convenience store and retail pads, with groundbreaking planned for 2027. The hotel and convenience store come first.

None of these will change your weekend in October. They do show where the next round of openings will come from, and the Old 91 Highway corridor is part of that picture along with West State Street.

I keep track of what is opening and breaking ground around Hurricane because it shapes how each part of town lives day to day. If you'd like to know how a project like the Exceptional Healthcare hospital or the West State Street openings might matter for your own street, Jeremy Back is glad to talk it through.
