Washington City's Halloween Week Peaks on a Monday Night

October 22, 2026

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, but in Washington City the busiest costume night comes five days earlier. On Monday, Oct. 26, the city holds its Trunk or Treat in the Washington City Community Center parking lot from 6 to 8 p.m. At 6 p.m. the same evening, out in Washington Fields, the Staheli Witches lead the Witches Light Parade through Staheli Family Farm.

The two events run on different rules. The city event happens in a parking lot, with registration for the people handing out candy. The farm event happens on 40 acres, and you need an admission ticket to get in. Monday is where those two calendars cross.

Monday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m.

The city's Trunk or Treat fills the Community Center lot at 350 Community Center Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. The city's 2026 trunk registration form says organizers expect around 1,500 to 2,000 children, and that trunk spots are limited. Trunk setup runs from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Businesses may hand out flyers or advertising, but each must also give out at least one individually packaged candy or toy. If you plan to decorate a trunk rather than walk the line, sign up through the form or the city's Community Center events page.

There's a date mix-up on the city calendar worth knowing about. The listing's heading says Oct. 26, but one line in its description says "Monday, October 27th." The registration form says Monday, Oct. 26, and Oct. 26 is the Monday this year.

The Witches Light Parade at Staheli Family Farm, 3400 S. Washington Fields Road, lines up behind the Pavilion stage at 5:45 p.m. and steps off at 6. The first 100 kids in line get a foam glowstick. The parade page says you need General Admission or a season pass to join. There is no separate parade ticket. The witches stay at the farm from 6 to 9 p.m. that night.

Both events start at the same hour, but they end at different times. The Trunk or Treat runs until 8, and the witches stay out until 9. A family could do both in either order. Doing both means one stop gets less time, and the 5:45 parade lineup puts a hard edge on the start of the evening.

The farm's last ten days, night by night

The farm's fall season ends Saturday, Oct. 31. Monday through Thursday, Farmland, the Pumpkin Patch and the Corn Maize are open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. On weekdays the farm is closed to the public during the day for field trips and private events. Friday and Saturday hours are noon to 10 p.m. The farm is closed Sundays.

Here's how the special events line up from publication day through the finish:

Date Farm hours What's added
Thu, Oct. 22 5–9 p.m. Staheli Witches 6–9 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–10 p.m.
Fri, Oct. 23 Noon–10 p.m. Lights-on Tour 4–6 p.m.; witches 6–9 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–11 p.m.
Sat, Oct. 24 Noon–10 p.m. Breakfast with a Witch 11 a.m.–1 p.m.; Lights-on Tour 4–6 p.m.; witches 6–9 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–11 p.m.
Sun, Oct. 25 Closed None
Mon, Oct. 26 5–9 p.m. Witches Light Parade 6 p.m.; witches 6–9 p.m.
Tue, Oct. 27 5–9 p.m. Farmland, maze and patch only
Wed, Oct. 28 5–9 p.m. Farmland, maze and patch only
Thu, Oct. 29 5–9 p.m. Witches 6–9 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–10 p.m.
Fri, Oct. 30 Noon–10 p.m. Lights-on Tour 4–6 p.m.; witches 6–9 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–11 p.m.
Sat, Oct. 31 Noon–10 p.m. Trick-or-treating 3–5 p.m.; Lights-on Tour 4–6 p.m.; Field of Screams 7–11 p.m.

The table shows why Monday matters. Tuesday and Wednesday have no special events at all. Monday is the only weeknight between the two final weekends with a scheduled event, and the farm put its parade on the same night the city holds its Trunk or Treat.

The Field of Screams haunted attraction requires a signed waiver. The farm asks guests to fill it out before arriving so check-in moves faster. The Lights-on Tour uses the same waiver. It opens the whole haunt in daylight with the effects off and no scare actors, which gives younger kids a way to see the sets.

What a farm ticket covers

Most of the week's events at the farm run through General Admission. The extras are priced separately. These prices come from the STG Newsletter's Staheli fall guide, which was last updated Sept. 28, 2026. Confirm them at checkout before you buy.

  • General Admission is listed at $12.99 to $18.99, depending on the date. It covers Farmland, the Corn Maize and the Pumpkin Patch.
  • The Staheli Witches' showcases are included with General Admission, according to the farm's fall FAQ.
  • The Witches Light Parade and Oct. 31 trick-or-treating both require General Admission or a season pass. Neither has its own ticket.
  • Field of Screams is listed at $26.99 for general admission or $40.99 for VIP, ticketed separately.
  • The Lights-on Tour is listed at $5.99, added on top of an admission ticket or pass.
  • Breakfast with a Witch on Oct. 24 is listed at $40.99.
  • Season passes are listed at $50.99 to $100.99.

Season-pass holders should check the fine print on Saturday, Oct. 24. The season pass page shows that the mid-tier Blast pass includes three Field of Screams entries but blocks Oct. 16, 17 and 24. Oct. 24 is the last of those dates still ahead. The Total Blast pass has five haunt entries with no blackout dates, plus one entry to the farm's Christmas lights drive-through. The Farm Adventure pass covers the farm, maze and patch without haunt entries. From Oct. 22 on, that leaves Blast holders five haunt nights: Oct. 22, 23, 29, 30 and 31.

Weather can also change plans. The farm's hours page has posted a same-day closure this season for slippery, muddy conditions. Tickets for that day stayed good for a future visit, and the farm emailed a link to reschedule. With only five farm days left after Monday, a rainout late in the week has less room to be made up than one in September.

Saturday the 31st closes the season

Halloween itself is the farm's last day of fall events. Trick-or-treating runs from 3 to 5 p.m. across the property. The farm's trick-or-treating page calls it a daytime alternative to neighborhood sidewalks after dark. The last Lights-on Tour runs from 4 to 6 p.m., overlapping the end of trick-or-treating. The final Field of Screams night opens at 7 p.m. and closes at 11. The witches' farm appearances end a day earlier, on Friday, Oct. 30.

The farm has no fall dates in November.

The next date on the city calendar

Once the costumes are put away, the city's next big community event moves to the historic center of town. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Washington City's Veterans Day parade and program runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade starts at the city cemetery and ends at Main and Telegraph. A service at Veterans Park follows, then a luncheon for veterans at the old church, according to the city's November calendar.

Halloween week's two big events happen in a parking lot and a farm field. The Veterans Day parade moves through the oldest part of town, from the cemetery to Main Street.
